It’s no longer just a ‘hobby’ for stay at home mum’s, today’s mumprenuers are revolutionising ‘home-based’ business and turning them into successful empires.
As the world evolves and businesses, theoretically, become more family friendly, one would think it would be easier for the mum’s wanting to get back to work to find a role that suits them and their family needs. The reality is that couldn’t be further from the truth. Not only is it tough for women to get back into the work force having been out for years, the types of jobs available that suit their family needs are limited.
Women need the flexibility, but also want to be recognised for the skills they have. This is why many women are turning their hand at a ‘home-based’ business. The old definition of a home-based business, however, couldn’t be more different to what is available today.
Today’s mumpreneurs are a new breed – they are digitally savvy, excellent networkers and have a breadth of understanding about the products they are selling. This is a business, not a hobby. They are coaches, stylists, digital marketers and social sellers, certainly not just ‘party planners’.
Jo Karabin, Founder & CEO, PASH Australia commented: “PASH is a company dedicated to empowering women through knowledge, support and a range of sensual products designed to help women live happier, more fulfilling lives.
“We understand that women who want more out of life and are willing to put the effort in to realise the lifestyle they want. PASH does more than just hand over a bunch of products and wish the person good luck. We take an active, engaged approach to helping our business owners create a successful business. We provide them with all the tools both digitally and hard copy, and also recognise the importance of community. We love that the PASH team support one another and provide encouragement to be successful, you don’t find that in many other businesses.”
PASH believes that women should have the opportunity to be successful working mums – it is possible to be a great mum, and run a great business.
PASH Consultant and mum of three, Rebecca Thomas, commented on her business: “I started my PASH business in May 2015 as a way of earning extra cash, gaining back my lost social life without impacting on family routine too much and, hopefully, as a bonus, reboot my lagging libido. I never imagined at the time that my business would become as successful and fulfilling in so many ways as it is today.
“I get a tremendous amount of training and support from PASH which has lead me to become business manager in just a few months. Through the training I get, I’m helping my team to become leaders themselves. The fact that I am helping other women live happier, more fulfilling lives is just an amazing feeling.
On a personal note, my business has allowed me to pay for my first overseas holiday and finally start planning for my wedding after ten long years of struggling to find the extra funds. I have never been more happy and confident about my success, I am so happy I signed up with PASH.”
The PASH 7 Step Plan to Successful Direct Social Selling:
1. Find your passion.
You are more likely to be successful if you are working with a company that you believe in and you’re selling products you love.
2. What women want.
Do your research. Find out if the products you are looking to sell are what women are actually looking for ie. is there a market ready and waiting?
3. Set your goals.
You need to know where you are going so that you can work out how to get there. The excitement in smashing your goals and setting new goals will keep you motivated.
4. Understand what you’re selling.
Whether you personally like every product or not, is irrelevant. But understanding the features and benefits is vital. The more training you do on the products you sell, the better the information you can provide to your customers (and the more they will buy).
5. Utilise the resources available.
Your company should provide significant resources and training across all aspects of your business to help you grow and be successful such as product benefits, selling skills, how to market your business, etc – make sure they do before you join.
6. Have a good team around you.
You’ve joined an organisation so that you’re not working alone so make sure you connect with other members of your community. In addition, you need to have a supportive family. If everyone knows your goal and you work together as a family unit, the more likely you are to succeed.
7. Be proactive
Never discount an opportunity – even if it only ends up being an experience.
